About these guides

Seen AI tools is a set of free fee guides and calculators. We publish what common home and car services cost in the United States so people can check a quote before they book, and so contractors can price their own work.

Who we are

The guides are published by Seen AI LLC, a Wyoming company. Seen AI helps local trade businesses get found when homeowners ask AI assistants like ChatGPT and Google for a plumber, electrician or HVAC company. Building these guides is a natural fit: we spend our days looking at what trade businesses charge and how homeowners search for them.

Where the numbers come from

Fee ranges are national averages for the United States compiled from published cost guides, shop and dealer labor rates, company service pages and owner reports, and updated at least once a year. The current update is September 2026. Sources include Angi, HomeGuide, HomeAdvisor, Modernize, RepairPal, Kelley Blue Book, Housecall Pro's trade pricing guides, and the companies' own service pages. Vehicle cost per mile in the contractor calculator uses the IRS standard business mileage rate, 76 cents per mile from July 1, 2026.

What the calculators do

The service call fee calculator works out what a trade contractor should charge to break even on a visit, then adds a target margin. The car diagnostic estimator applies published shop rates to your state and the type of problem. Both run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.
